What is the difference between the WhatsApp Business app and the WhatsApp Business API?

The app is the free phone app for one person replying by hand. The API is the official connection that lets software send and receive messages on your number, which is what automation needs. Meta approves API access per business; we handle the setup.

Text messages (SMS) to US numbers need a registered business number (A2P 10DLC), which we set up with you.
